Debra, as Head of Student Employability at Nottingham Trent University (NTU), is responsible for all student facing employability activity. NTU has over 30,000 students and has one of the largest Employability teams in the UK with over 100 staff and they are leaders in the sector for employability initiatives and impact. Employability at NTU is embedded within the curriculum and as an additional support service and students are always at the heart of delivery. When planning new initiatives, these are always developed in consultation with students through focus groups and our student employability champions. Social Mobility is at the heart of NTU and approximately 50% of NTU’s student population are from a widening participation background, meaning that we are often working with a student body that is challenging to engage. Therefore, we have invested in a number of initiatives to maximise success for this student group, Debra will be sharing some of these interventions.
