Karen has been Director of UCL Careers since 2004, managing the 60-strong careers team. She has responsibility for the strategic development of employability education across UCL and operational delivery of all aspects of careers provision for the c.43,000 students at UCL, c.5,000 postdoctoral staff and recent alumni. Activities are facilitated through strong partnerships with all academic departments, to ensure that appropriate support is given to students, across the disciplines. Karen is also a member of the SMT of The Careers Group, University of London, UCL Careers’ parent body. Before her current role, Karen was a physics teacher in the UK and South America. Karen was instrumental in setting up and becoming Head of the first secondary school in Bogota, Colombia to offer the full British curriculum to expatriate and local students.
